Ah, from Muslims to Christians.
The indie darling Sufjan Stevens is a big wow amongst the cool/nerd set these days. He is literate, talented, ambitious - he has released two albums about US states and apparently intends to do the other 48 - Christian and, gulp, H A W T.
Soooo, debate rages as to his sexuality. Is he a Virgin Mary or just a sensitive Joe(seph)?
Here is a track to help (not really) you decide! It may be about Jesus or it may be about loving his best friend. You decide.
Not content with releasing only one album per state - this week Sufjan releases a second CD of songs of Illinois! The CD is called Avalanche and consists of out-takes and extra songs that didn’t make it on Illinoise which was initially to be a double CD.
He’s an incredible artist - and absolutely gorgeous to boot - how lucky am I that he’s destined to be my husband!

Love his song ‘Casimir Pulaski Day’ from the Illinoise album. Found myself accidentally listening to it half unconscious on Bus Eireann one day on a bumpy ride to Donegal. Sweet lyrics. Straight as a poker though. Enda, you’re married.
The whole album is rather understatedly gorgeous. ‘John Wayne Gacy Jr’ gets me every time.
And, yes, garvan, I’m married, but Andrew would totally inderstand if Sufjan offered me his hand in marriage. It’s in the the pre-nup:9.15: “If a H A W T indie-love god offers himself to one or other party, this must, of course, be like totally respected and stuff?”
To be alone with you is about his relationship with God. He is definitely straight. Grow up.

He is singing about Jesus and about all the selfless sacrifices he made for us. Sufjan is singing about how wonderful Jesus was and about how he admires and looks up to him.

I think (s)he’s right though, Sufjan is definitely singing about how wonderful Jesus was. How wonderful he was when he was double fisting him on the bathroom floor that is. And yes, I’d say that was admiration is his eyes as he looked up…
