Some pix from the party

29 10 2006

The party was a blast.

Here are some pix!

Kevin, the ‘gayest person on the planet’ as one passer-by called out as we walked through crowded Temple Bar on a Saturday night. Someone else said ‘I want to be IN you’. Most odd.

Loads more to be found on my flickr pages! I tried to bite everyone.

Airport

27 10 2006

It’s 9:56. Andrew’s plane was due at 9pm. Delayed til 9:30 but just landed a few minutes ago. So I decided to update mon blog while I wait for him to traipse from the plane and get through customs.

The airport is rammed - it’s a Bank Holiday weekend here so lots of coming and going. Ooops text just in… It’s him; he’s landed.

So, tonight it’s hotel in the city centre, some wine and catch up (ahem), then tomorrow we’re off to a Hallowe’en party. Fancy dress is mandatory, it seems, so I’ve borrowed Tony’s tux and I’ll improvise from there. Andrew is doing some military chic look. We ave to hit the town in full costume before the party though, so that’ll be fun: andrew HATES fancy dress - it’s “enforced fun”, he says.

I’ve been feeling a bit odd since the swoon, so I do hope I can be Up for the whole thing, but fingers crossed.

Have a Happy Hallowe’en, those of you who celebrate it! I’m off to the arrivals area to welcome my man. Toodles.

That Greek song…..

Image of Alkistis ProtopsaltiRight kiddos, this has become the most popular reason for people visiting mon blog (apart from ‘John Barrowman’s cock’ - cheers Minge!). And I’ve had a few messages from very persistent people who missed it first time round and cannot buy it in the shops no matter how hard they looked etc etc.. so here it is, grab it while it’s hot.

Taking the PiS

Image of Polish Prime Minister

Wow, looks like this story is gaining momentum!

Doug Ireland in his blog, Direland (unfortunate title, I know), has a substatial update. Looks like our cuddly pal has been properly outed!

The irony of it all Poland is one of the only countries to have a gay Prime Minister. Who’d have thunk it?

Is the Polish Prime Minister Gay?

17 10 2006

Image of Polish Prime MinisterGCN are running a story that might raise a few eyebrows, but it appears that the adorable Polish Prime Minister, Jarosław Kaczyński, may have a little secret…. Read more

Publicly, Kaczyński isn’t terribly nice to the gays, but maybe he’s just being a tease?

Find out more about this cuddly daddy on Wikipedia.

The BBC have some interesting articles on Poland’s very disappointing behaviour towards their gay citizens. Image of protesters at Warsaw's Gay Pride.

I’ve said it before, but Poland is now part of the EU and as such their leaders have to show some respect for human rights. An overlooked country with a strong traditional Catholic influence, you say? You mean, like Ireland was?

Medic!

15 10 2006

Image of swooning ladiesI had a bit of a swoon the other night. I was having at my lovely pal Eimear’s house, a couple of glasses of red and all that, when I felt a bit hot. I stood up, felt decidedly crapola. Then I woke up on the floor with Eimear and Sinéad tending to me. Apparently I got up again, but fainted one more time (bashing my head in the process). anyway, the lips were blue, I was deathly white and overheating. I eventually came back to a tolerable level of conciousness after half an hour.

Isn’t that weird? Googling tells me it was a ‘non-epileptic seizure’. I had one of those about 12 years ago too.

Am I going to die hideously when driving my wretched Fiesta down the M50?

I don’t know, but I’m taking Monday off to have a wee think about it all.

AWOO!

11 10 2006

Image of The Hidden Cameras. It’s been a rum old fortnight.

I went to a gig on October 1st. I’m terrible for not going to gigs, yet when I do go, I invariably love it and have a simply soopah time. And the Hidden Cameras in the lovely Sugar Club in Dublin was no exception. I went there with my lovely pal, Brian, who goes to gigs every five minutes, harassed BBC Radio 6Music, and is hugely enthusiastic about everyone from Cat Power to Shakira via Slater Kinney.

Anyway, ver Cameras and their ‘gay folk church music’ were fantastic, and the new album, AWOO (review here), is much better than the previous one, Missisauga Goddamn, if not quite as good as debut, The Smell Of Their Own. Since they asked very nicely for the audience to move forward, I and Brian did just that and spent the night pogoing ecstatically in front of (the surprisingly hunky) Joel. They rock. Buy the album.
